Learning about Wakeboarding

June 23rd, 2009

Do you want to learn more about wakeboarding, but you’re not sure where to start? Looking for other wakeboarders to connect with? Curious about how the new boards and bindings are? Luckily there are quite a few online sites that can help answer those questions.

We’re big fans of a couple of different online wakeboarding communities that are great resources.

WakeWorld.com – The ‘grand-daddy’ of wakeboarding websites, WakeWorld has it all. The site features boat, wakeboard, binding, wakeskate and wake surf buying guides. Each of the guides features full reviews of various products, and also has an active forum of members, news, photos, and contest sections in the site.

WakeFirst.Com – A wakeboarding blog/community site, WakeFirst.com boasts 948 members, a forum, photos, videos and product reviews. A great place to check out recent news and connect with wakeboarders around the country.

StokeMeter.com – a great wakeboarding community, this site features live TV shows and chat rooms where you can follow along with professional wakeboarders and others from the wakeboarding community. The chat features allows you to ask questions during the show as well.

TheWakePlace.com – similar to the popular TV/Movie site Hulu, The Wake Place has a large collection of videos that include tricks, wipe-outs, video features and “Wrecks of the Week”.

WakeboardZone.com – WakeboardZone has just launched a new section of their popular site that has the basics on all wakeboarding terms. In their words, “Come on in and learn about Wakeboarding!  Right now Wakeboardzone.org is changing over to a Free Wakeboarder Community Site with Wakeboarding Forums, Articles, Member Profiles, Learning Tutorials and Media.”

Utah Water Sports – Facebook Page – We’ve got it all on our Facebook page! Local wakeboarders, contests, pictures, video and a whole lot more. Make sure you stop by to enter our new wake surf picture contest!

You can also get our updates on Twitter – @UtahWaterSports

Each of these sites are great places to connect with other wakeboarders, learn crazy new tricks, and show off your sweet pictures and videos. Are there any other wakeboarding sites you like? Tell us about them in the comments section!
